ATTAKKR was my first attempt at a solo project since the mid-1990's. I had a background in noise and experimental music, and after moving to Los Angeles in 2001 I started a noise group called URETHRA FRANKLIN that later changed its name to DEMOCRISY, we played lots of shows in and around LA. Sandor was the other main guy in DEMOCRISY and he later became the drummer in HARASSOR. DEMOCRISY broke up after a few years but HARASSOR kept going. Around 2005 I eventually got the urge to try some different ideas out, I was inspired by some of the more experimental doomy and shoegaze material from guys like James Plotkin and Justin Broadrick, also SUNN O))) was doing some exciting stuff combining drone and noise electronics. I started recording at home on a borrowed 8-track recorder, these early recordings were earnest but lacked a cohesive direction. I even played a few solo gigs as ATTAKKR at the now defunct LA venue Il Corral. "Blade of Ithiel" was my first release and I probably burned 20 or so copies to CD-R and gave them to friends, this was before I had officially started my Rising Beast label. I am happy to present these early experiments here, I hope you enjoy them. ~Horus

PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it.
That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter. Matten
