about

"Zantetsuken" was the second release from my now defunct experimental project ATTAKKR. This release was barely heard by anyone at the time as I believe I only burned a handful of CD-Rs and gave them to friends. I had borrowed a bass guitar from a friend (who later got very pissed because I took forever to return it) and along with a drum machine I recorded these 4 songs using an 8-track recorder. Again I was inspired by some of the more experimental doom/drone music that was coming out on Southern Lord around 2005-2006, bands like SUNN O))) and KHANATE, but I was also very excited by the post-GODFLESH project JESU that Justin Broadrick was doing. The first 3 songs are all variations of drone/doom, but the last song "Amalantrah" is straight up shoegaze rock with clean vocals, still one of my favorite songs I've done. The title "Zantetsuken" is the name of a powerful sword found in the Final Fantasy video games, and the girl in the cover art came from a scene in the 1960's Japanese ghost film KWAIDAN. ~Horus
